In a major diplomatic and security development, 26/11 Mumbai attack accused Tahawwur Rana is set to be extradited from the US to India today. He is expected to land at Delhi’s Palam Technical Airport, where heavy security, including commandos and bulletproof vehicles, has been deployed. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) will formally arrest Rana upon arrival, as he faces charges of waging war against the country. Multiple NIA teams are prepared for questioning, and Rana will remain in Delhi for a few days before being transferred to Mumbai. The aircraft carrying Rana made a brief halt in Europe for refueling. A special seven-member team, including officials from RAW and the Ministry of External Affairs, is accompanying him. Meanwhile, the Central Government has appointed Advocate Narendra Mann as Special Public Prosecutor for the 26/11 trial, highlighting India’s firm stance on justice.
